Expert Profile: Patrick J. O'Neill

Expertise:  I can answer almost any question about space, ranging from our Solar system, to other parts of the universe, black holes, extra dimensions, etc..

Experience in the area
I am now 17, and have been interested in Physics (mainly astrophysics/cosmology) for a few years. I plan on getting my PhD in Physics some day, along with bachelors degrees in a few other particular areas. I don't know much about the formulas yet, but I understand most of the concepts and abstract thoughts, which I attempt to explain without many complications.

Something controversial or provocative about this subject  People are still debating how the universe will end, and it was discovered that the universe is not slowing down, in fact, it is accellerating.
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  There is a supermassive black hole in the center of our galaxy (and all other galaxies, that I am aware of). Our Sun, and our solar system, rotates around the center of the galaxy, the black hole, just like our planet rotates around the Sun.
What do you like about this subject?  I like that there is so much more to be discovered, and the things that we do discover are fascinating.
What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  I know more than an average amount of the subject, but I still have many many years ahead of me. I hope to make some personal discoveries some day, and to share in the discoveries of others.
