I can answer, provide information, recommend resources or offer examples relating to the majority of hospice questions. Answers are not offered as a replacement to any recommendations made by health care professionals involved in the patients direct care. My role in this forum is to provide help to others in the form of information and education. Subjective questions will not be answered as an absolute as each situation is different. You will be reminded of this in my response. Hospice topics and questions can often times be painful and upsetting. Be sure you are prepared for an answer that my cause unpleasant emotions. A request for further information my be necessary to insure questions are answered accurately.
I started to volunteer for hospice when I was 15. The sent me through an extensive two month training course. My assignments varied from sitting with patients to house cleaning. Within six months decided hospice was always going to be part of my life. I continues to volunteer while aquiring my Certified Nursing Assistant credentials. Once licensed I then began to work as a CNA for the same hospice agency. I continued to volunteer when I wasnt working. I applied to Nursing school with the intent to become a hospice nurse. During school I worked as a CNA and continued to volunteer. Upon graduation is secrued a position immediatly. Over the years I moved up the career ladder quickly. My highest position achieved was a Director for a large hospice agency. my Responsibilities includ but were not limited to, day to day operations, marketing, direction and supervision of over 100 employees, patient care, quality improvment, problem resolution, budget and compliance.
