You are here:
I have had hermits for years... They can be abit of a handful, but so comical at the same time. I can answer most qustions about the habitats and care of these little guys.I have some knowledge about what is best for them. I work as a pet care specialist for a large pet chain. Hopefully I can help you with any probs you are having. I have about 45 of them right now and have had most of them for yrs.
I deal with these little guys on a daily basis...I have 37 of my own!! : ) I even have a couple streakers, they just like to run around no shell for a few now n then....lol
I have no formal education in this area . Have been in petcare for yrs and would like to pass on any knowledge I have to anyone who needs it. This all started because his mom said my neph couldn't have hermmie. I lived in ocean city... and I said he could....We ended up with 32 hermies .....lol
everything
anything ... if someone has a tip ...please let me know. It is much appreciated

Anita, You have them abit overheated. They need a warm side and a cool side. Even though where they come from is tropical they can have some cooler nights. You want to get a smaller under the tank heater
Jesicah, What is a lot easier and they love them are Terracotta flower pots on their side and they are all natural too. You can even get coconut fiber to put in them but personally I stick sand in there
Tricia, I know this is so frustrating but very comical....they are so funny sometimes. All you can do is wait...maybe more shells ...try not dipping them in salt after you boil them maybe that will help
Tricia, You have a serious streaker. Have you tried to stress coat his abdomen and gently coax him into a shell. Try it. Keep him misted and cover him for privacy that's about all you can do is be patient
Connie, Definitely keep them on sand. Sometimes crabs have tough molts. I would keep him misted so his surrounding sand stays moist. You can make a hole for her and put her in but, if you are going to
