Experience in the area

I have done research on the relationship between feline diet and feline diabetes due to my personal experience in dealing with one of my own cats. I am a pet lover and always have numerous cats and dogs. I believe in feeding a high quality and by-product free diet. Diet alone cured my diabetic cat as well as either cured or significantly helped many others.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?

I think that the general public should be informed as to the dangers of most commercial pet foods. The industry standards for pet food are seriously lacking, compared to those for the human food industry. You can't imagine the toxins and waste products that are added to pet foods.

Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:

If you change to a human-grade organic food such as Wellness, Nature's Variety, or Innova, to name a few, I guarantee that you will see a difference is your pets health. http://www.omhpet.com/wellness/cat_index.html

Something controversial or provocative about this subject

The so called big name premium pet foods such as Iams, Eukanuba, and Science Diet are anything but premium. They contain potentially harmful ingredients and waste products. They are highly recommended by many veterinarians because the profit margin on them is huge. Most people never think to question the brands that they constantly see advertised and marketed to them.

Hi Leslie, I wouldn't recommend feeding only raw chicken liver for an extended period of time. While she is recovering from the extractions, it's a great idea to stick to any soft foods, canned cat

2009-01-09 urinary tract health:

I don't recommend either Science Diet or Friskies, as they both contain potentially harmful by-products, fillers, etc. It is recommended that cats who have had urinary problems be put on a low ash food

2009-01-06 two cats suddenly rejecting food:

I'm very glad to hear that their vet appointment went well. The only suggestions that I can offer, right off hand, are to increase the temperature in the room where they are staying and start working

2009-01-01 two cats suddenly rejecting food:

Hi Jill, I apologize for taking so long to reply to your message. The holidays had me away from the computer for quite a while. This is the first that I've heard of two cats, both in the same house

2008-06-05 mother cat:

When the mother weans the kittens and they aren't allowed to nurse for several days, her milk will dry up. Once her milk has dried up, if kittens begin nursing again, and on a regular basis, it is possible
