Expertise

I am able to answer general questions about UK animal shelters, management of shelters including the development of policies and SOP's. I am unable to answer veterinary or animal behavior problem related questions.

Experience in the area

I have over 25 years experience working with and rehabilitating numerous species of animals. I worked for many years in welfare veterinary clinics and spent 7 years managing a large animal shelter. I now provide practical training, solutions and advice (advocating compassion and highest standards) for those responsible for the care of stray, sick and unwanted animals both in the UK and abroad.

Organizations

I am a listed nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, a member of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association and an accredited member of the Institute of Animal Care & Education.

Education/Credentials

I am a qualified veterinary nurse and went on to study animal behaviour, kennel management (Dip.Hons) and pet nutrition. I subsequently qualified as an NVQ vet nurse/animal care assessor and verifier. I is currently studying for the Professional Certificate in Management with the OU Business School.

Previous employers include the RSPCA, Blue Cross, People's Dispensary for Sick Animals and RSPCA International plus a number of organisations whom I assist on a voluntary basis.
