Expertise

I can answer almost any question regarding snake husbandry, feeding, general care, handling, etc. I have some experience with geckos and bearded dragons. I cannot answer questions regarding breeding or venomous reptiles.

Experience in the area

I have over 10 years experience in snake husbandry. Currently, I have the following (Children's Python, Brazilian Rainbow Boa, Western Hognose, Olive Python, 2 Macklot's Pythons, D'Albert's Python, 2 Carpet Pythons, 2 Royal (Ball) Pythons, California King, Green Tree Python, Amazon Tree Boa). While I have no formal training in Herpetology, I can help most folks keep their snakes healthy and happy.

Education/Credentials

AAS in Electronic Engineering (Tennessee)
The Logistics Institute (Georgia Tech)

What do you like about this subject?

I enjoy teaching folks about snakes and common husbandry techniques.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?

I would like to obtain a license to keep venomous reptiles. This will have to wait until my daughter is grown.

Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:

Snakes are a lot like dogs. The each have their individual personalities. Some bite, some do not bite. Some are loving and others like to keep to themselves.

I have two suggestions. 1. Move the enclosure and 2. change the substrate to cypress. Cypress or coconut bark is the best substrate to help ward off mold. Oh, one more thing. 3. You could add a heat lamp

It is a little odd that she is staying in the water. I still would not be concerned too much. Go ahead and pull her out of the hide and make her move around a bit, then put her back in the enclosure. She

Some snakes do act oddly when winter sets in. I have had my 2 BPs go months at a time without eating for no apparent reason. I don't see the size of your snake listed, but unless she goes more than a month

Just some general suggestions: Make sure that the heat lamp is on one end of the tank and that the other side of the enclosure is kept cooler so the snake has a choice. If you put a heat pad down, put

2009-11-02 Ball Python in his water?:

As long as the snake can choose a hot side and a cool side and the ambient temp is between 80 and 85 (or a reasonable gradient between the two), I'd say the heat is just fine. Make sure you have the humidity
