Expertise

I have spent my entire professional life rehabilitating the behavior of the domestic dog and I can answer any question regarding any behavior problem in any breed dog. If you are a caring, committed owner and need advice, I'm here for you. THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES for serious behavioral issues; not only is it unprofessional to offer same, it is also unethical. IF I ASK YOU SUBSEQUENT QUESTIONS, I NEED YOU TO INTERACT WITH ME. More information equals more credible answers and a more successful outcome. If you want ANSWERS THAT WORK, participate in any way I request. I'm quite committed to working on this site for YOUR benefit and the benefit of YOUR DOG. Help me in any way you can.

Past/Present Clients

Board of Directors: Northeast Dog Rescue Connection; The Dog Project; Sav-A-Dog Foundation; etc. Pro Bono counselor: Little Shelter Humane Society My practice is presently limited to forensics. I diagnose cause of dog bite, based upon testimony before the Court, for attorneys and insurance companies litigating dog bites, including fatal injuries. I also do pro bono work for bona fide rescue organizations, humane societies, et al, regarding such analysis in an effort to obtain release for dogs being held for death in municipal shelters in the US.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?

Every professional is always learning. I don't know it all. I am constantly studying and reading professional journals. The field of Animal Behavior is quite young: simply because Homo Sapiens appears to be dominant doesn't mean we're "better", it just means we're "different."

Something controversial or provocative about this subject

Anyone can become a "dog trainer", all a person needs is a few dollars to put an ad in the local pennysaver. Check references of any dog trainer and be sure they use positive reinforcement, only. Do not trust everything you read or see on television: any attachment to the media is a matter of knowing the right person and being in the right place at the right time.

Get another veterinary opinion. Your dog may be responding to severe pain (due to disease or other condition) or be suffering from cognitive dysfunction due to age. If my three year old wants to sleep

2010-03-12 Specific Aggression Issue/Question:

Ok: NOT ALL PIT BULLS ARE HORRIBLE KILLER CUJOS! The bad rap belongs with the idiots who breed this and related breeds particularly for aggression and then torture them to provoke that aggression. Luckily

2010-03-12 dog's fears copied?:

I remember this dog and I think I gave you quite a complete protocol to attempt to desensitize her (change her reaction) to motor home and car rides. Given the fact that she has developed other fears

2010-03-11 Dog is Resource Guarding Me:

Ok, I can't see anything from here but your use of NILIF is certainly NOT harming the dog in any way or causing this problem. Because you first described her as appearing 'stressed' during these guarding

2010-03-11 dog's fears copied?:

Because a dog breed is intended for a certain activity (lure coursing, hunting, herding, guarding) doesn't automatically make each member of that breed a candidate for same. In the case of the Springer
