Expert Profile: Hamad

Expertise:  I have a general understanding of the common everyday problems and confusions people have about Islam. Generally, I will, to the best of my ability, answer the questions from a psychological as well as an Islamic point of view.
I am interested in psychology and I view Islamic rulings and the way of life from that perspective. I have some experience in counseling which I wanted to combine with the little knowledge I have on Islam to create a balanced position. I will, of course, not be able to answer all question. That would be either due to my lack of knowledge on the topic or because it requires a professional answer due to its sensitivity. My sincere apologies to those I am not able to help.

Education/Credentials
I have no proper credentials to answer question on Islam or psychology except from my personal knowledge from books and other sources and experience from the dynamic environment. I have taken a course in psychology as well as read some books on it while I received most of my Islamic knowledge from my mother, who is an Islamic teacher and my Qur'an tutor.

What do you like about this subject?  My interest in Islam had increased considerably once I started to understand and see the psychological reasons which sometimes people disregard or undermine the importance of. I am fascinated by the fact that all of the rulings and laws in Islam are very logical which requires some thinking and understanding to grasp.
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  I read this on a site: “Excessiveness in worship is prohibited (in Islam) just like delaying it (an obligatory act past its obligatory time such as missing a prayer). Moderation is taking from both positions (a balance between rigidness and hyper liberalism) as this is the best of affairs as the Prophet [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said: The best of affairs are the moderate ones..."
Something controversial or provocative about this subject  There is in reality nothing controversial about Islam but I understand that in certain parts of the world, the idea of what Islam is and how it is to be followed can sometimes be misunderstood. Being a Pakistani, born and bred in an Arab country like U.A.E, I have come across many surprising misconceptions concerning Islam in my own country and elsewhere.
What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  My aim is to spread hope, share my knowledge and use whatever Allah has blessed me with to help people in whatever way I can. Also, I wish to get a deeper understanding of the troubles Muslims face in today's societies and in hopes of finding solutions to them
