I am a life long music fan and concert goer. I have always loved a broad range of music. I have been interested in the business of music for many years. I have been a licensed & practicing attorney for ten years. I have always had an interest in sports & entertainment law.
I have been an off and on member of the Sports & Entertainment law section of both the Texas and Dallas Bar Associations. I don't think I am currently a member, but I am not sure. I'm also a member of several LinkedIn groups related to the industry.
You can find me all over the place online. My twitter is @bridgetzig. I have an undergrad major in English-Creative Writing, & I also served as Editor in Chief of our student magazine. I consulted with several other magazines. I have published fiction and feature stories mainly. I would like to do more critical music writing in the future.
B.A. English- Creative Writing from Louisiana State University 1996 B.S. Psychology- sociology minor from Louisian State University 1996 3.8 GPA with honors. Phi Beta Kappa J.D. from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, GA
I won my fifth and sixth grade talent shows. I won best actress in my community theater for playing a Rooster (not too many lines, but I can crow like a champ). I marched with the LSU Tiger Band for a year. I was a memeber of the Color Guard (gals who dance around and spin flags). I have lots of academic honors. I won't bore you with them, but I am Phi Beta Kappa.
I don't generally advertise or disclose clients. I do offer paid and free (sometimes unsolicited advice) to any musician or band I come across that I feel has potential.
I love music of all types. I love emerging media. I love business. I love marketing. I love creative, out of the box thinking.
I want to learn how to sing so that my voice doesn't frighten humans, & then I want to perform one live, sold-out show at Wembly.
My 9 yr old son was born with a Congenital Heart Defect. He has had 4 open heart surgeries. He was also born with the gift of musical talent. We purchased a drum kit for me to try to learn to play (yeah, right). He jumped on & that was history. That was 3 years ago. Since then he has taken up bass, electric guitar, keyboard, & accoustic guitar. We don't push him, because music lasts a lifetime.
Although I am a lawyer and am well versed in business matters, I do not hold traditional industry beliefs. I enjoy working one on one with artists to come up with innovative approaches to music production, distribution, and promotion. I also have found that I have had to "de-program" a lot of artists who have been preached industry practices for so long that they don't think for themselves.
