Expertise

I can answer questions about teaching students with DS, including how to read, learn content,and I have ideas for how to adapt work. I can answer parenting questions, some behavior questions, and general questions about DS.

Experience in the area

I am a parent of an 8 year old and I have attended 7 national conventions on DS. I have served as the president for DSNetwork of Arizona and am currently the Education Director. In additon to that I have taught for 15 years, 3 years of which were in a special education classroom.

B.A. in Social Studies, M.A. in Language Acquisition, Endorsed in the following areas: reading, Cross-categorical sped, ESL,social studies, Middle school, and adult education. My dissertation topic is educating people with DS, and plan to hold an Ed.D. in Education Leadership in the area of Down syndrome by May, 2011.
