I would like to answer Geophysical questions with keen interest, specifically exploration related. I want to hear from users for their queries on exploration geophysics/geology. Especially in the discipline of Reservoir Characterization from seismic reflection data. The questions related to basics and interpretational applications would be most welcome. I can also answer queries related to sequence and/or seismic stratigraphy, geology, general geomorphology, seismic geomorphology and other relevant questions. I can not answer the questions related to gravity, magnetic, or resistivity surveying or question related to the fluid dynamics. Such categories are not related to my experience.
Four years in different services with additional case studies of Pakistan, China, Saudi Arabia and Netherlands offshore.

Master in Philosophy with specialization in reservoir characterization by using Sequence Stratigraphy. And master in Geophysics with a case study of Punjab Platform.
Position Holder in Academics.
Geophysics is the heart of exploration geosciences. It is the key tool especially seismic that helps to see the subsurface geology.
I always learn...
Since last decades it is becoming a booming technique for subsurface exploration. It helps sequence stratigraphy with higher ranks. People who wish to read the geophysics in depths, I will suggest to start with geology. As it is parameter driven, so we must know the limitations of such parameters. Such limitations become due to geological logics. Geophysics alone is not a complete science.

Dear Suresh, A depth map is prepared normally by considering a datum. In seismic such a datum is SRD from where the velocity is referred to a depth of a reflector. Thus you need an average velocity

Jeff, I am not an expert of this field but I know that NaCl is not a magnetic mineral. Geomagnetic field could be disturbed because of external magnetic compounds. A classic example would be if you
Dear Suresh, The length of the wavelet should neither be long nor be too small. Try to use an average wavelet length e.g. 140ms or 160ms. Normally, the wavelet changes its length with time and people
Dear Rick, Polar wandering is the movement of the magnetic poles (North / South). This is measured using the magnetic compass. Magnetic minerals always align themselves in the direction of the earth's
