the shield with the #2 doesn't look  real,  the helmet appears real, probably  from one of the smaller makers, i don't see  anything to indicate which one.  the felt liner was standard in all helmets

the cairns aluminum helmet was called the senator  major cities which adopted it included washington dc  philadelphia  buffalo it was manufactured well into the 1950's  i saw them worn in buffalo as late

no they did not  there were  two members who wore them them but it was in the 60's-70's  one was a deputy chief so it was a white one    other was the capt of eng 14 so it would have been black  both wold

was very common for certificates to be issued upon appointment to a volunteer fire company or dept    in this part of country after 7 years of active service  it was common to issue a certificate of exemption
