Glass insulation available today can be nearly as efficient as an R-19 wall.
Cost ratios compared to benefit ratios are somewhat controversial, as many people believe that more expensive windows do not have a good payback, yet they fail to insert the "comfort" parameters into the equation.

Hi David, It would work to a point. It would definitely eliminate most of the noise, and if that is not enough, there is specific insulation for soundproofing that is sold in the large stores as well
Hi Jeanne, Installing a steel door with a steel frame can easily be done with tapcon screws if you are installing in the foundation. You can indeed also use plastic plugs, but I prefer the tapcon screws
