Hi Peter, You are right the stamp is not any help, without the quality stamps in the ring it is impossible to tell what it is made of and what the stone is. I would suggest you take it to a gemologist
Hi Sheila, Unfortunately the photo did not come through. I can tell you from my experience there is amethyst of this quality from Indonesia that I have seen. This could be the case in this instance

Hi Jim, The average person might see the difference in the cuts of the two different stones. They would normally not know that it is Cubic to begin with. The choice is between the cuts. If you like
