Expertise

I can help with just about all questions relating to the breeding and general health of meat rabbits grown in a warm to tropical climate. I can also answer questions in Spanish.

Experience in the area

I have been breeding meat rabbits in the middle of Mexico for the past six years, with anywhere from 50 to 100 producing does at any one time.

Education/Credentials

Self-taught after retiring from a lifetime of Hospital administration. The internet is a wealth of information!

What do you like about this subject?

It is my passion. I love all Gods creatures - specially the warm and furry ones.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?

One of the beautiful things about working with animals is that you never stop learning!

Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:

Tips - give in the drinking water 6 ml of apple cider vinegar for each liter of water - this will protect your rabbits from urinary problems and will lower significantly the smell from the urine. Give your rabbit a handful of fiber a day. Fiber that they love can be banana plant leaves and even the banana peel or the outer green leaves from your corn on the cob or peelings from fruit.

Something controversial or provocative about this subject

Many pet rabbit owners cannot understand people who breed rabbits for meat. There are many third world countries (like Mexico - where I live) where other protein sources are too expensive for the poorer people. We are very careful to take humane and loving care of our rabbits - when they take the trip over the rainbow bridge it is without undue suffering.

This could be caused by calcification in the urethra or an infection in the bladder. If , after a treatment with antibiotics she is not better you could try putting 10 ml per liter of apple cider vinegar

Ashley he smells on you female hormones and he wants to mate. Rabbits have very strong sexual urges. You might try rubbing the stuffed toy all over your body so he can smell female hormones on the stuffed

2008-01-01 how do i know if my Rabbit is Pregnant:

31 days after the mating you saw the doe will most probably have a litter of kits. You should give her a nest - a box so that the kits cannot crawl out of the nest by mistake and die of cold. As for

Magen, the best way to tell is to wait the 31 days after she was breed. Professional breeders palpate to discern pregnancy but it dangerous for the doe and the kits if done with unexperienced hands.
