Expert Profile: Heather (Yexalen)

Expertise:  --My expertise is focused mostly on CHINESE WATER DRAGONS but I am also very experienced with many other reptiles including but not limited to: Chinese and Australian Water Dragons, Bearded Dragons, Leopard Geckos, Anoles, Iguanas, Skinks, Chameleons, Uromastyx, Monitors, Basilisks, Geckos and many more. I can answer questions about their enclosure, lighting, heating, feeding, bathing, supplements, minimum requirements, unique habits, and general care as well as identifying reptile species. I can also answer any question you may have about aquatic turtles including Red Ear Sliders, Yellow Belly Sliders, Painted Turtles, Musk Turtles, and a few more. I have limited experience with snakes and amphibians although I can and will do my best to get you the information you need. I have very limited experience with severe medical problems and can't answer questions that require veterinarian treatment. I prefer not to answer questions about keeping wild caught animals unless they are ill or in danger.

Experience in the area
I have experience owning and researching many species of reptiles. I have been asked to write articles for numerous reptile based websites and I have my own website focused towards reptile care. http://reptilianyex.tripod.com I have reptile care articles published at www.petplacestation.com I currently own one Chinese Water Dragon, two Leopard Geckos, one Green Anole and two Red Ear Slider Turtles.

What do you like about this subject?  I have an interest in all reptiles and believe they are truly fascinating. I enjoy caring for them and making sure every reptile has a suitable environment to not only survive but to thrive.
What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  I hope to learn about the rare species not commonly kept as pets. I want to learn more about the reptiles in their wild environment.
Something controversial or provocative about this subject  Reptiles do not enjoy being held. Few will tolerate it but it should still be avoided at all costs. It is severely stressful for them and stress can cause illness. Reptiles do not make good pets for children these animals can be given as pets to children but must be taken care of by the adult. They are a large responsibility and take a huge commitment.
