I have been growing herbs organically for 27 years. I have also written and self-published, loose leaf binder, "Herbmans Journal". 2008 is my last year at Smile Herb Shop. I plan to grow herbs in my small back yard and sell at David's Natural Store in Columbia, Md. on saturdays. I also will return to the Baltimore Herb Festival in May 2009(memorial day weekend).I used the word organically grown, but the state came into the picture and stated that I could not use the word unless I become certified & paid a $300.00 fee. I decided to add to my name (99% chemical-free) since nothing on this planet is 100%, except Jesus Christ, taxes & death. My customers were satisfied with this instead of paying a large fee and raising my prices, with no guarantee that it is organic except for a label.Their belief was in my word.
I like this subject because I could not believe that God gave us all this to grow for our health. The hardest part is obtaining the correct info on how to use them.
Educate young and old about growing and usng herbs for fun and health. Keep chasing for more info from customers around the world on how they use the herbs.

Brenda: The first suggestion is to contact State extension service dept. for soil conditions needed for herbs. Go to books by tom debaggio on amazon. There is a "big book of herbs" by debaggio & arthur
James: I have heard about catnip for the mosquitos, but no testimonies. I have a list that I have used for some insects. Lemon thyme, lemon balm mint, citronella grass, lemon grass, eucalyptus, lemon, peppermint
Abigail: I wish I could tell about the different light on basil. I do know that basil in the summer needs complete morning sun. It prefers the high light and heat. I find the grow lights work well for
Nasreen: I can only give you of a few herbs that I have frozen and did well. Mint, ginger, parsley, rosemary, garlic. Allow to thaw out a little before putting in recipe. Try putting basil in ice cubes
Najla: I have the shadow bennie plants.I have never tried shipping them yet. They are small & slow growers in cooler weather. They are difficult to grow and must have the right shade & heat to produce
