As a licensed Landscape Architect, I can answer general questions about style and design, ideas and suggestions for site amenities, larger site-planning issues, or recreation and park design. IF YOU JUST WANT A PLANT SUGGESTION GO HERE: http://www.growit.com/PlantInfo/LandScape.htm I prefer you ask somebody else why your petunias are not as perky as they should be...I'd LOVE to tell you how can use those petunias to increase your home's value!
Member, American Society of Landscape Architects (ALSA.org); Past clients have been mostly contractors, developers and local civil engineering/architecture firms, plus the occasional homeowner. Currently, I design recreational facilities for the National Park Service (DOI). I am located in the dry Great Basin area (Greater Nevada/Utah), so the use of landscape materials OTHER than plants is emphasized. As a licensed Landscape Architect on the East and West Coasts, I have been in practice over 20 years.

There are few other items that add value to a home so quickly (Money Magazine - 4/06), and is just so much fun!
To share this design knowledge with the land owner, developer, even the renter - after all, aren't we all just "borrowing" our land from the future? You're not taking it with you (O.K.; maybe you get a little 2x6 square with a handsome tombstone, someday)
Its the FIRST oldest profession (Or so God told Adam...) Actually, Adam was asked to just take care of the place for a little while.
I prefer "hardscape" over plants; without good structure, plants are just decoration. What makes a great place unique is not the plants a designer has chosen. Lots of "designers" start with their favorite group of plants, and put them in every design.

Heather ~ Paint is probably the quickest and least expensive of home renovations out there. I love how the internet has changed this activity. You can literally "see" how your decisions or color options
Hello, Fay. Quite a design challenge: narrow space, harsh zone, and part-shade. Here goes: for Columnar/privacy - Cloumnar dwarf Canandian Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis 'Monler') http://www.monrovia
Hello, Virginia; “Concrete Sand”, or ASTM C-33, (I won't bore you with sieve/mesh sizes*)is course and will cause “bridging” if used to fill joints (more on bridging, below). The Concrete Sand is best
It is a fine thing to fall in love with a single plant, but in order to display it for optimum enjoyment, your Hydrangeas needs “context”. Even the best of deserts make a lousy breakfast-lunch-dinner
NOW (fall) is a great time to plant hedges & trees. You are right – I think the branch clipping you photographed is this tree; the Eastern Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana). Picture link, below: http://www
