I taught myself Spanish and I've travelled all over Central America learning local dishes and recipes.
Independent study
I started cooking when I was very young and have developed an interest in ethnic dishes. Now my children have begun to take an interest in cooking as well. Because of the variety of things I prepare, they have quite a range of favorite foods.
I am always expanding the integration of all the different types of food I have learned to prepare. I hope to write a book someday.
When I was married, I did all of the cooking. Now that I am single, my children cook with me frequently. The eldest,(17) has become quite good.
A collection of recipes arranged in such a manner that the cook must turn the page just after the point where a thick paste of flour, water, and lard is mixed by hand....... :)

Belle, The most effective way is to use household bleach diluted one part bleach to five parts water. It will chemically neutralize the capsicum. The result is salts that are easily washed away with

In my experience brown rice will not properly absorb enough water after it has been exposed to oil. The exposure to oil before water blocks the water absorption. Thats why I either use quick cooking
Hi David, It seems odd that it took so long.. Sometimes it just depends on the rice grain. Many people have trouble cooking brown rice and having it turn out decently, since it can be more temperamental
