Expertise:  Visit my blog: Taking Back Vatican II

I will do my best to answer questions regarding general Catholic teachings and Catholic philosophy, including Protestant/Fundamentalist misconceptions. I will usually recommend further reading, such as books and websites, and I welcome follow-up questions.

In particular I welcome questions about:
-Scripture
-Mary & The Saints
-The Pope, Bishops, Priests, Monks & Nuns
-Vatican II
-Women in the Church
-Justification & Sanctification
-The last judgment, Purgatory, Heaven, Hell
-What the Catholic Church says about the "rapture" and the "millennium"
-Angels & Devils
-The Eucharist (Holy Communion, Lord's Supper)
-The problem of evil
-The problem of divine foreknowledge, free will, and predestination
-Questions about love & sex, abortion, contraception, homosexuality, and other "HOT TOPICS."
-Questions about Church policy in regards to Catholic politicians in the United States.

I was raised Southern Baptist and converted to Catholicism in 2003. I'm familiar with many the misconceptions of Catholicism. I am also a masters student in philosophy at a Jesuit university.

What do you like about this subject?  What do I like about this subject? I can tell you what I love: Christ, absolutely! :-) I have focused some of my studies on the problem of divine foreknowledge and predestination, the problem of evil, and sex and love, including the abortion and contraception.
Something controversial or provocative about this subject  The Catholic Church is perhaps the most controversial institution around. Just read the newspapers. Abortion, contraception, gay marriage, female priests, embryonic stem cell research, etc. The Church is at the center of all these controversies!
What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?  My current interests are in angels, especially the fall of angels and the problem of evil, and Catholic apologetics-both in a traditional sense (to other Christians), and to "modern pagans."
Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:  There are many rites other than the Roman rite. They have their own liturgies and hierachy, but have the same beliefs and are all in union with the Pope. Examples are the Coptic, Melkite, and Maronite rites. (This is not the same as the Eastern Orthodox churches which are not in union with the Pope!)
