What do you like about this subject?

I enjoy the science and research involved with learning about the human body, espically the cardiovascular system. Even more, I enjoy explaining this information to those who are curious and concerned enough to ask.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?

I hope to see an awakening in America of life long healthy diet and exercise habits. I want to help people understand that 30 or 40 years of poor diet and inactivity can easily cause chronic, incurable disease - that could have been prevented.

Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:

For people with cardiovascular disease, a low-saturated fat diet and regular exercise will not effectively replace the benefits of modern cholesterol lowering medicines.

Something controversial or provocative about this subject

We cannot say that there are "normal" levels of cholesterol & lipids. Low cholesterol levels are no guarantee of heart health. We can only try to find what are healthy and acceptable levels for each person. The national guidelines are a great start, but they are very broad and somewhat liberal. If you have heart disease you need to be strict with lipid levels, blood pressure, diet and exercise.
