What do you like about this subject?

Integrative Family Medicine deals with all of medicine, health, nutritionals, herbs, supplements and especially wellness.

What do you still hope to achieve/learn in this field?

I am teaching medical students and residents how to be successful in practice and life, how to do Integrative Medicine(Holistic Medicine)as well as how to effectively work with managed care.

Something interesting about this subject that others may not know:

Family Medicine deals with the quality of life and wellness versus just life saving illnesses. Holistic or Integrative Medicine deals with the mind, body, and spiritual components of health as well as to the best way to integrate complementary and alternative medicine into the field of traditional medicine.

Something controversial or provocative about this subject

As a Medical Director of two managed care companies and an educator with a private practice I experience both sides of managed care conflicts on a daily basis. As a Holistic Integrative physician I experience the anguish of my patients in trying to incorporate complementary and alternative treatments into their traditionally treated and not treated medical and psychosocial problems.
