2009-11-13EJ1010109YesThank you Mary, I will share your information with him and see if any of it makes sense for him. I did believe that the added component of pain during evacuation may also be playing a part in the constipapation in a reluctance to attmpt the exercise more frequently than is necessary-and while I am not certain about that, it would make sense to me. I can but offer your suggestions and hope that his Doc is willing to consider them. HE has not been open to "outside" suggestions in the past, but hopefully would consider the information i the light of it's value to his patient (?) Thank you ever so much for yuor insight....and suggestions. I was not hearing anything from any of the medical contacts that I have in terms of even a hint of suggestion. Your service to others in this forum is invaluable. Thank you again- and have a wonderful Turkey day as it arrives! Sincerly, EJ Laux
2009-11-11EJ10101010YesHi Mary- thank you so much for your rapid response. He is currently taking Neurontin for neuropathy, has not to my knowledge been offered the Ultram (tramadol) for pain. But I can tell you his Urologist will never agree to anything that even hints at further constipation. bowel movements cause him severe pain- and just the general parastaltic action for the bowel causes pain. I am not certain about whether or not he has ever tried Naproxen or Celebrex. If they could potentially cause a rise in the potassium level, the Doc will likely nix that as the last two times they had to go to the hospital for IV therapy to reduce that level. He was just okeyed to again alternate Ibuprofen with the Tylenol, but again, they hardly touch his pain. He resides in an assisted living apartment in the Hudson Vally area (The Fountains at Millbrook)and still sees an army of specialists, but no one has anything to offer past the Tylenol and Ibuphrofen. I live 250 miles away from him, so am unable to attend his apointments (nor Moms--she is 85 with stage 4 breast cancer and Parkinsons...) The Golden years, eh? In any event .....

2009-10-25Alex10101010YesThank you for your help. I have done more research on my topic. Our teacher just wanted us to do an online interview about information we didn't find. I again thank you for taking time to answer my questions.
