2009-11-09chris10101010YesThanks Greg, you answered so quickly! The mineral spirits seems to have worked except for a couple of spots where I may have softened the finish. I wish I would have known about the mineral spirits, I just thought of cleaning agents. Thanks again. Chris Sanders

2009-11-08Jolene10101010YesHi Greg, Thank you so much for your reply. I'd been trying to read up on possibilities and I was sort of afraid that this tinted wax I'd read about might not work out! Thanks for confirming the reality. Jolene
2009-11-07Pam10101010NoThanks so much for your advice. I'll give it a try. Even after all the years of having the porch open, the walls really aren't that bad. I'm aware of the darkening feature and I even kind of like the darker color. Thanks again. Pam
2009-11-06Bea10101010NoThanks! The drawer is now fixed!!!!!
2009-11-05Moira10101010YesDear Greg: Thank you! You verified what I thought was the only avenue -- STRIPPING IT DOWN! Blech, icky, and mighty nasty, but it is what it is! Thank you again! Moira
2009-11-04Melanie10101010YesThanks for your advice and quick response. I am still undecided about what to do, but feel better having an expert opinion...thanks again! :)

2009-11-03Ed99109YesThis an excellent public service. I appreciate the quality of your experts, exemplified by Greg Scholl, especially considering the prevalence of mis-information on the internet. Thanks and keep up the good work. I've bookmarked this site for future reference. Ed C
2009-11-03Kristina10101010NoThank you so much for your fast and very helpful response! It is a particle board underneath. So, you're right, painting would be our only option. I really appreciate your help!!! Kristina
2009-11-02Jeremy10101010YesGreat alternatives. I do have a dremel tool and had not thought to use it. I will evaluate the prying method as well. It is nailed into MDF so this should be easy enough but i need to check the other parts of the framing. After thinking about why these nails were used here and no where else on the piece, i think there may have been some bowing that he was trying to correct or he was too lazy to bring the nail gun inside one more time. (maybe both) Thank you again.

2009-10-27Jane10101010NoThanks so much for your advice Greg. I think I will probably try the pro option if it is economically fiesable. I thought I'd have a go myself, but considering colours reqiure matching, it may be difficult, as you say. I will save your info.in case that the restoration will cost more than a new table. Many thanks once again. Great to speak with someone with expertise in this area. Jane
2009-10-26Janet10101010YesThank you, Greg!
2009-10-26Vicki10101010YesThanks for your opinion. I thought it would be too good to be true! Thanks so much for your rapid response, and kind explanation. You seved me some grief and useless work. Again, many thanks! Vicki
2009-10-26David10101010YesGregg, Wow...Thank you for the thorough answer. I will take your advice and research the recommendations you've made. I want to be confident before I start. I might even practice on the bottom side of one the leaves before tackling the table. I will take my time and not rush anything.... Thanks again. David
2009-10-24Julian10101010YesThanks for the timely and informative response. Will proceed with your recommendations!
