An hour before your message, I talked to Toyota's national customer service folks, and they set up a "case" to send down to the local dealership and district service parts manager, urging them to help out. The national rep was very sympathetic, and urged me to call him back after getting an offer from the locals to see if he could add something more on top (hinting at another $500). The dealership just called me back (minutes before your message) and offered the 50-50 split you predicted, and also mentioned their warranty price might be lower to start with-- so around $1800 from me. The pill is getting a little less bitter. I am awaiting the national customer service guy's return call, and will mention that TSB to him for sure. (Unfortunately, I am not a repeat customer, and did not buy this van from the shop I'm dealing with, though your message reminds me that the original seller might be where have better leverage; on second thought, this competing shop might have equal incentive to secure my next Toyota purchase.) Anyway, I wonder if I should push for better than 50-50; it sounds like ..... |
