2009-06-28Sarah10101010YesThank you so much for your help Meg. I really appreciate that you took the time to write to me in detail. You are right, I consider myself to be 99.9% cured, at least when it comes to purging. Emotionally, I'd say I'm 50% better but I know I'll be OK. The feeling of having lost such a big portion of my life (my BEST years) keeps killing me, and the thought that my father had the biggest role to play in this, is something I just cannot let go.. Thank you so very much for everything, I will now read the article that you found for me and also visit the website that you recommended. Kindest Regards

2007-07-26Sonia10101010NoDear Meg, Thank you so much for your detailed reply. You helped put things into perspective for me by reminding me how low my weight still is which is why I still feel so weak and ill. I shall persevere and hope that as I gain weight, I gain the strength I so desire. I feel if only I had strength and energy, I could do anything. But it is hard to keep positive when I feel so ill and cannot see any physical improvement yet. Maybe the improvement is inside and I need to gain more before my legs and arms begin to strengthen. If there is anybody out there who has recovered after as long as I have been ill and experienced similar physical problems whilst trying to recover, I would love to hear from you. Thanks again Sonia x

Expertise

I am recovinging from about nine years with my eating disorder and while I am not a psychologist, I`ve accumulated a good deal of knowlege about eating disorders as well as my own experience over this time. I`ve mainly struggled with anorexia, but have definitely had times where I have engaged in bulimic behaviors as well. I also struggle with over exercising, but am about to be certified as a personal trainer and have learned moderation as well as how to treat my body well so it can perform at it`s best. I promise to give an honest answer to anything asked, and I want to say that while it is a long, scary road---it is possible to get free of this and it is so important to keep on taking little steps and knowing that you are not alone.

Experience

Sufferer for nine plus years. Also, my Mom has strugged with this issue- as have others in her side of the family.
