2009-11-21Amber10101010NoThank You for your help. I'm glad to know spider plants won't hurt him, although I'm still worried about the plastic.
2009-11-21Jane10101010YesAs a first time "mom" its really helpful to have a timely respnse to questions. I am wading through treacle here trying to do the right thing for Tilly, she is so lovely and I have waited so long for my husband to agree to me having her at all! Thank you for the support.

2009-11-18Isabel10101010YesNorman, you are a godsend. It is just 10 days since the new little cat- now named Norma after Norma Desmond from Sunset Boulevard- has come to live with us, and the two are inseperable. Over the last few days I have witnessed lots of nose kissing and they are even following each other around the place, running and roughhousing. Bliss has been restored. And I am taking a much needed vacation! A million thanks. And hey for short I can call her Norm, so I can remember you always! Elizabeth

2009-11-05Gina10101010YesMuch more helpful than trawling the net for conflicting answers, a true pro :)
2009-11-05Margot10101010YesThanks so much for the insight. I will not use any form of punishment even scruffing, as that results in revenge attacks. I will try to be more consistent about ignoring her earlier. I think that will help. The dog also sits by and growls at her at the first sign of pain from me. She stops immediately when he tells her off.

2009-10-27Justine9101010NoSaying to take your cat to the vet wasn't the answer i was looking for, but it seems that is the only answer there can be without seeing the cat or being a vet.
2009-10-27Marie10101010NoThank you for your reply, and since seeing them more often, I agree it just is them playing! Ta Marie
2009-10-25Jennie-Louse10101010YesHi. Thankyou for your response, such ashame that i can't breed them, i will probably shop around for a male to mate with my female then. I always thought it would be ok to mate siblings. Never mind. Thanks again. Jennie-Louise.

Expertise

I can answer most non-veterinary questions about cats. My particular expertise is pedigree cats, breeding and showing. However, I am versed in feline behavior, cat breeds and their characteristics, general feline husbandry, and the like.

Experience

I judged for the Canadian Cat Association from 1975 until 1982. I am currently an approved allbreed judge for the Cat Fanciers'' Association (the world''s largets cat registry), and have been judging for them since 1991. I have been breeding pedigreed cats since 1971 and have been exhibiting pedigreed cats in shows since 1970. I obtained my first pedigreed cat in 1970 and have never looked back. In 1971, I obtained my first Abyssinian which has become my primary breed. In addition, I have bred Manx and Persians. Currently, besides the Abyssinians, I am also breeding Maine Coons.

Organizations
Cat Fanciers'' Association, inc. (CFA) and the Manx, Maine Coon, and Abyssinian breed councils. I am currently Abyssinian breed council secretary.

Publications
Cat Fancy Magazine, The Abyssinian Chapter in The Cat Fanciers'' Association Complete Cat Book, and Articles for various editions of The Cat Fanciers'' Association Yearbook

Education/Credentials
I received a B.S. from Drexel University in 1968, a M.Math from University of Waterloo, in 1970, a Ph.D. from University of Waterloo in 1975, and a MBA from McMaster University in 1980. I received my approved allbreed judging status in the Cat Fanciers'' Association in 1999.

Awards and Honors
We have produced a number of Cat Fanciers'' Association (CFA) National winning Abyssinian and Maine Coons. We have produced a number of Abyssinian and Maine Coon Distinguished Merit females (an award for a top producing cat), including the first Distinguished Merit Abyssinian in the red (sorrel) color. I am the CFA Abyssinian breed council secretary and belong and/or hold office in a number of cat clubs. I am also a member of the CFA Judges Association.
