2009-10-30Michael10101010YesWow...Yes, I can do all of the above. Brilliant...simply brilliant. Since I first asked for advice, I have narrowed the essence of the problem to a balance between available room for gain and suitable tiling substrate...this makes great sense. I just finished an evaluation of the span/load tables and realize I can do this and be within tolerances. This bed with Ditra overlay is the best I can do and should work. Thank you Perry! Really...Thank You!

2009-10-08ian10101010YesThanks Perry - will try to source. The bathroom, including floor, was my own work - planning permission to extend home within 18 months of building room meant whole room had to be "picked up" and moved to the left as viewed in photo by approx 4 feet - to allow for a corridor through to new extension...
2009-10-04Bob10101010NoGood grasp of field, excellent communications. Very prompt

2009-10-03Bob10101010NoThank you very much, I too remember the (my)days! Hopefully I can now carry on a conversation and get the problem fixed.
2009-09-30Julie10101010YesThanks Perry, l was also thinking about the noise factor so l have alot to think about in this project . Many regards Julie
2009-09-30Pete10101010NoThanks Perry for the fast responses. It is nice to have someone with years of experience to ask a question when doing a DIY project.
2009-09-29Julie10101010YesThanks for the answer Perry , it will come in useful , maybe you could answer another question if l was to turn my attic into a bed sitting area for my 2 teenage daughters what matters do l need to consider and what would l be wise to use on the floors that would stay clean but also warm on the feet and not allow two much noise for the ground floor
2009-09-28Wendy10101010YesInformative and helpful beyond the depth of my questions. Thank you!
2009-09-28Fred10101010Yesvery much appreciated.....
2009-09-23Patty10101010YesThank you for your answer, Perry! It was exactly the information I was looking for. You were right on all counts. I live in a small market city, but will look elsewhere. I didn't know about having the edges of the marble polished prior to install. And, the "sharpie" comment by the salesperson? Well, maybe it will give us both a good laugh for some time to come. Thanks again! Patty
2009-09-23Jim10101010YesVery thoughtful and excellent response, I am an engineer and Perry's rationale and reasoning is crystal clear ... Might add very rapid response, just a few hours!
2009-09-21vicki10101010NoThank you Perry for the response! Perry answered my question VERY quickly and gave great advice. Perry...one teeny question, how would you transition the marble mosaic into the next room through a doorway? Wood? Marble slab?? The marble is a tad higher then the joining floor??? Thanks for all the help :-P
2009-09-21Robert10101010NoThank you Perry. I understand your answer and your advice. I appreciate your willingness to give me the details of your recommendations. I will do what you suggest.
2009-09-21John10101010YesMany thanks Perry. Fascinated by the explanation which also lets me know not to bother about buying expensive workarounds.
2009-08-26Jo Ann10101010NoThanks for the information. It's so frustrating that installers and/or contractors don't take the time to learn more about what they are installing and how to finish the job correctly! I appreciate your expert feedback. Jo Ann
2009-08-26Anthony10101010NoThank you so much Perry. This at least makes me feel a bit more relaxed knowing that, to a certain extent, the contractor did his job, although he may not have been properly trained or experienced. I am glad that there are only a couple dozen of these skewed pieces throughout and not all in a row. Perhaps if I have some extra time on a Saturday and am getting truly annoyed, I will do as you suggest and try my hand at cutting them out and resetting them. It sounds like a pain in the rear, but if you are a perfectionist I guess you have to do most things yourself. Again, I appreciate your timely response.

2009-08-18Garry10101010YesVery good response. Thanks
2009-08-17Mary Pollard10101010YesThankyou very much. I am comforted to know that my feeling was right - it didn't work. I will look for someone to polish the tile and use baking soda or just plain hot water in future. Hot water sounds do-able.
2009-08-16Tom10101010YesNo worries on being a little late answering, I know all too well what a pain it is to move. Thank you

2009-07-23Sue10101010YesHi Perry Thanks for your help and advice. The property was 'new' when we bought it but I think had been built for one year before we moved it. Yes, it is a difficult one. I am British and in the UK we have what is called NHBC on all new houses, which is a National House Building Council which covers all homes for 10 years, but like you say, things differ from country to country. I think I shall have to see what my neighbour proposes and perhaps meet halfway. But have had quotes of up to BD$12,000 which is about £4000 or $US6000 which is a lot of money. Anyway, thanks again for your help. Regards Sue Perry (good not we were not married outherwise you;d be Perry Perry) :)
