2009-11-14Raymond10101010YesIt's always a very good deal when you can find some one that knows what he is talking about, and is willing to go the extra mille to help make sure that all information given is corect. That is just what Joe Douglas did !!.I've been to 3 other web sites and they might as well take them off,it takes for ever to get the wrong answer's. thank you Joe,you have been a great help and I will recomend you and this web site to every one I know, and I know a lot of fisher men! again,Thank you.

2009-10-28Burt1010510NoThank you much for your response. The fly rod would have otherwise been sold in a 'garage sale'. I appreciate that you waited to refer to your books before providing an answer. I would have done the same. Thanks, LBZ

2009-10-13Jim10101010NoJ, Thanks for response. I've put them away and am heading out on the road. Can't answer the thoughtfully listed questions. I loaded the 8 foot custom rod built by "Bowen" for my father in 1946 with WF5F and cast with it. It worked like a dream till I double hauled. Now it curves below the first ferrule, and clicks on every cast. I think I delaminated it. I can see a separation about one inch long. I'm putting it away. JCH

Joe Douglas

Expertise

I can answer questions on custom rod building and rod restoration and rod repair for bamboo, graphite and fiberglass fishing rods. I also have experience in estimating the value of vintage rods and determining the original manufacturer.

Experience

I operate a custom rod building business providing fly rods, spey rods, casting and spinning rods in bamboo graphite and fiberglass. I have a personal interest in vintage rods and have a small collection of reference books and articles which often help shed light on the origins of the older rods.
