2008-12-16Christy10101010YesThank you so much for the information, I found it to be extremely helpful. Especially because I was thinking of putting my flight training on hold to pursue an EMT Certificate. Now I see that it wouldn't be necessary. Thanks again, Christy

2008-04-03James991010YesThanks for your response! I suppose I'm suprised that supply is high enough to justify the low wages. it seems like the training is fairly time consuming, expensive, and intense. I only know one person who is training to be a pilot. Most of my friends are becoming accountants and financial analysts. I guess there are just only so many piloting jobs out there. Any insight on how much pilots in places like china are making? With such an increase in demand and a short history of aviation, I bet there's a big shortage of pilots there.

2007-10-11Tony10101010YesDottie: Thank you VERY much for your answer. I feel much better now. I had a "bad experience" while in the military on a flight (lost cabin pressure) and I've been scared ever since and the other part is just being a parent. (LOL) Also, I know this may seem "silly" or even somewhat "sexist" but I have to share this with you. In my life I've probably flown with 3 female pilots (two on Southwest) and they have been without question the 3 most pleasant flights in my life! Especially the landing!! (Very Gentle) I don't know if this was a factor in the pilots skill but I ABSOLUTELY noticed a difference. Maybe it was all in my head. On my last flight coming back to Baltimore from Las Vegas I was getting a little nervous because of all of the turbulence etc. so the flight attendant took the time to talk to me (on Southwest, of course). She told me that the crew could always tell where a pilot recieved their training by the landing,ie.if the landing was especially rough they probably trained in the Navy and were used to landing on AirCraft Carriers etc. This .....
