2009-11-24chuck10101010YesHi Dana, Thank you very much for your quick reply answering my question that bothers me quite a bit. The contractor is licensed, but has done numerous short cuts and mistakes on my house addition project. Everytime when I point out something not doing right, he always says all his work is the standard workman's prcatics, and my findings are all based on my own point of view. He has filed a mechanic's lien because I am holding about 5% of the total project cost to cover unfinished work and to fix many other problems that he refuses to do. He even says I am his most difficult client he ever met. I feel better after reading your reply. I wonder if I can file complaints about this unprofessional and irresponsible contractor so that others will not follow my footfall and suffer what I have been going through. I have a high regard for your professionalism. Many Thanks again, CC Chen

2009-11-22Richard10101010YesThank you Dana for your quick response. The toilet is an Amanda. I've never heard of the brand. Once again thanks.
2009-11-21Garth10101010NoThanks for the quick response. We just might have to break up cement and cut the pipe off. Garth
2009-11-20Terri10101010NoThis is the first time I have used this service, and I will undoubtably use it again. It may not be typical, but I received a response in less than 15 minutes. Thanks!

2009-11-19Stephen10101010YesDana, thank you for the great advice and quick response. I got a toilet auger and snaked the drain. I got the partial blockage out and now the toilet flushes and fills great without any water draining out. Thanks again. Stephen
2009-11-18Chuck10101010YesYeah, wax rings are cheap, but pulling the toilet is a pain - much rather fix it right and not have to worry about it! Thanks again for the fast response and good instructions.
2009-11-18Chuck10101010YesAbsolutely outstanding, just the info I needed, clear, and in an hour or so. Surpassed my expectations! Thanks a lot! Sadly, this WILL mean I'll be asking more questions...
2009-11-16Don9101010NoAnswer did not address everything in the question but was helpful. Answer focused on repeated and frequent toilet clogging when this is a one time issue but I may not have made it clear. If this expert becomes available again I will clarify the matter so that I can get the info I need.

2009-11-16Ray10101010YesDana, Thank you so much for such a simple fix !! We now have a working dishwasher and a better understanding of what that annoying "thingy" is on top of the sink. Keep up the good work! Ray
2009-11-16bhale10101010Nothanks for reading the questions patiently

2009-11-13Kari10101010NoOur house was built in the 80's so maybe the pipe is the issue. We'll check out both possibilites. Thank you so much for your help!
2009-11-12Chuck10101010NoThank You, but they didn't have it. ~Chuck Chuckmaurersave@live.com
2009-11-12Mary10101010YesThank you for your time Dana. We will certainly follow up with your suggestions!
2009-11-11Barbara7101010YesWe actually figured it out. The retaining clip was put on wrong (our mistake), BUT, yes it was Moen, and their instructions were difficult to follow (bad illustrations). Thank you for your fast response.
2009-11-09Virginia10101010YesDana was so fast in responding and I really appreciated that.

2009-11-06matt10101010Yesthank you so much! exactly what i needed to know. i really cant thank you enough. i got very nervous when i saw the moisture and wasnt sure if this was going to require a more involved solution with changing the flange height. i can do this and really appreciate your timely and clear answer. thank you again.
2009-11-03Chris10101010NoVery quick and helpul advice, especially since I was afraid there was no info available. Thanks Dana
2009-11-02Dick10101010NoDana, Thanks for your prompt response . . . and sorry for my delay. My wife had me re-finishing and repainting the guest room before company arrives this week. i had already looked at the adjusting the hinge without success but will revisit that possible "fix." My house has four similar showers. Two where I changed the door catch now don't close . . . while two that have the old catch work fine. I've tried comparing the two that work with the two that don't work and, except for the catches, I can't find a significant difference. Yet, dimensionally, the replacement catch is the same as the original one. It's not the catch spring pressure because the shower door won't close against the catch without exerting significant force to hold it closed . . . and, even then, it barely catches. Something must have gotten out of alignment . . . so I'll further investigate the the hinge. Thanks for your help. If I get this figured out (hopefully, before my company arrives), I'll send you an update e-mail so that others with a similar problem will know as well.

Expertise

Pretty much any residential plumbing questions. Note: I live and work in Southern California. We do not as a rule use boilers, hot water or steam heating systems or wells so my knowledge in those areas is limited. There are others here that can probably answer those questions better. "We all is city folk" out here! What is a "well" LOL
