2009-11-18Seth10101010Yes Thank you so much for answering my question! That would be very upsetting if it had a problem, because I got it as a birthday present. I have not checked the main engine oil for a while, but I don't think it's burning the crankcase oil. Once again, thank you for taking your time to help me out. From, Seth

2009-11-01David10101010NoThank you for your comments. I will likely dish out for the official manual as I plan on keeping this Honda snowblower for a long time, and am willing to service it myself where possible.
2009-10-28Don10101010NoI appreciate the rapid response and will follow up as soon as I can get the tractor to my house. It is a gimme and supposedly that was the only problem. It has not been started in three years. I plan to clean it up first . then clean the entire fuel system and put a kit in the carb. Once that is done and assuming there is fire, I can check further. This will be sort of a hobby rebuild for the winter.
2009-10-28denns10101010Yesi worked on the mower last night .i tried you suggestion with the spray, it fired ,which lead me to the gas/carb problem. i first went to the gas filter removed it to check for proper installation ,found very little gas coming out of the line . when i opened the gas cap to look for a clog in the tank i heard a little air .i looked at the cap and there was a build up of stuff blocking the cap vent.i cleaned the cap off and the mower is now running . hard ot believe. thank you for your quick and informative advice ,i will remember this site remember K.I.S.S
2009-10-27Tom10101010NoThanks for the quick response. The oil reservoir drained once, over winter storage, but it had been stored on its side. It has not since. It seems to get worse in the warmer weather, when the oil is thinner, so I will try using the Stihl oil. Thanks again. fyi - I was going to post a follow up question but the system said you are not taking new questions at this time.

2009-10-21GB10101010NoIt will be hard to assess this until I actually get this fixed. It may take a couple of days or so since it is too dark now I will have to fix it after work some day.

Experience

Born and raised in the midwest. Started tinkering with engines when I was about 14 on my Suzuki RM-80. I began lawn mower repair at a small hardware store. I knew absolutely nothing. I read lots of repair manuals and met an older fellow who taught me many lessons. I continued working on small engines through high school and paid my way through college working on mowers at the same hardware store. Decided to get away from the midwest and mower repair so I joined the Air Force. I repaired air traffic control electronic equipment and ended up in Hawaii where I got a part time job at Small Engine Clinic. I gained a lot of experience from the Small Engine Clinic and had a blast repairing small engines. I then took the Briggs and Stratton Master Service Technician test and earned my MST. I then traveled to Wisconsin where I attended the factory update training seminar and received formal training. I received a scholarship from the Air Force and am currently pursuing another degree.
