2009-06-30Damian1010107NoHank knows what he's talking about. He's made things a lot clearer for me. I had little knowledge of this part of distributing an import. All of my experience is in the selling. I would give a better score on politeness, but he doesn't seem to care too much about that. Thanks Hank.

2009-04-09marcel torres10101010NoLet me explain. I have a client that has bought the material so we can custom order a piece that we offer. Manufacture takes place in China but we deal with a US based importer. They gave us that address to ship. We have had business for many years with them so I am sure is ok to ship there. Now the material manufacturer here is asking for a licensed broker so they can ship the material in 4 weeks. I gave them the factory address in China with contact information. But as you said they do not usually have an import license. I am being reimbursed by the client for the 30% fee. Then we coordinate shipping to the client on our end of the finished product and pay all US import expenses. What could happen if I decide to go ahead and ship it there without them having a license to import. They will have the funds to pay for for the fees at the time they get the material. That is the situation.

2008-10-02Matt1010910YesHi Hank, Many thanks for your response! You advice not only corroborated what we have been able to find out elsewhere, but also gave us valuable new information for which we are very grateful! (eg., the file formats that we need to give suppliers for branding). So, once again, thank you for your time. Cheers, Matt P.S. We're only a very small company at the moment, but have keen ambitions to grow strongly over the next few years. When we can afford it, we'd love a China sourcing consultant. What is the name of your company so we can engage you (or one of your staff) professionally in the future?
2008-10-02John10101010YesThanks for the response - right now they are not requiring us to supply the product from China - but they are still asking for a business license. I think it is only a matter of time before they want us to supply the product from China. Thanks for your help and quick response.
