2009-11-23Kelly891010YesThis expert told me not what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear. I think I already knew the answer but it's just a tough situation to be in and to think about just jumping ship over this. But obviously I wouldn't have written if I were happy about how things are, I don't like to see myself or my son put into this situation. I need to think about what is best for myself and my son and not be afraid all the time of upsetting "him". I guess the next best step would be Alanon, which I have actually been at before in my life because of an ex-husband. I must be a slow learner or something.
2009-11-11Tanya10101010YesThank you, Jan. I appreciate the feedback. Actually, my daughter has been in Al-anon for over 10 years, and has been asked to speak at many events, including a state gathering. She has a sponsor, and has been a sponsor many times. Perhaps this is a matter of temporary loss of perspective. I will definitley keep your insight in mind as we move forward. Thanks so much.
2009-11-01liz10101010YesThank you for your prompt response. I agree with your input and will definetely follow my instincts as you suggested.
2009-10-07nancy10101010YesThank you for your answer. I have been away from alanon for many years, I will go back. alcoholism has been the devil in our lives for generations and I know I need help to cope. The 4th generation is growing up surrounded by this legacy too I am sorry to say and maybe if I get myself back to alanon the others will follow my lead.
2009-10-05Martha10101010NoThanks so much for your answer. I've been to al-anon, and have the support of an on-line group. I've been so down about this and I'm reaching out for any help I can get. This whole situation is now showing the end results of what it has done to me because I was an enabler for so many years. Not a pretty picture. Again, thanks for your answer.

2009-07-11Ann10101010YesI found it odd that you suggested an intervention of sorts since that had been suggested to me by family members and I thought that would never work with her since she wouldn't be cooperative. I thank you very much for your insight.

2009-04-23Joe10101010YesThis was a clear answer with appropriate and sensible recommendations. I would like to thank Jan for the answer and the timely response. This is an extremely valuable service for people in difficult situations.
2009-03-27K10101010YesI had no resources to ask this question and felt guilty bringing it up at Al-anon. thank you so much for your timeliness and sincerity!
2009-03-22Anita10101010YesThank-you so much Jan, I have given him the feedback also, in the hopes that maybe someone else can make him see as i can't, that he needs help. I really think he is a lost cause now, as all my friends have tried to tell me time and time again, but now i think it's true that until he realises he has a problem there is nothing more i can do. Thanks again.
