2009-11-18pete doree10101010NoHi Sue, thanks for such a quick response. Alas, I don't think that's the book I'm thinking of. Never mind, I'll keep looking. Thanks again. Pete
2009-11-04Douglas10101010YesThank you ever so much for your answer. I have tried to find the title of this book off and on for months, in other venues, and never had any success until now. This book prompted me to become a fan of SciFi writing for years as a child and I am just now (I'm currently 64) going back to this earlier delight. Your being referred to as an "expert" is a truly deserved appelation.
2009-11-01Mary10101010NoGreat suggestion - found it after not too long a google search - from an imdb user comment. The book is "The Watch Below" by James White. Apparently it was a cargo ship, not a submarine.

2009-09-24chris10101010NoVery generous of you to include all the collections that have the story you guessed it might be! This is not what I was looking for - definitely a novel and maybe more than 30 years old. But I appreciate you just the same!

2009-07-08Julia10101010No Thank you so much for your help, I will get right on these books and hopefully find some more on my own. And yes I did mean action driven, silly me. What is a book without a plot....reality t.v- Thanks again!

2009-06-23Cecil10101010YesSue: The people at the MIT link you gave me (mitsfs@mit.edu) told me to ask you to refer questions like mine to yasid@mit.edu instead of to them. (YASID means "Yea, Another Story IDentified.) Hope this gets to you. Dr Taylor

2009-05-29Rick8101010YesThanks, I read the The Dosadi Experiment by Frank Herbert and it was not quite the one I was thinking of. I think the one I am remembering was probably in the mid to late 60's whereas Dosadi was published in 1977. Thanks for your help. It was wothr a try anyway.
