2009-08-27Melissa1091010NoDid a nice job giving us some ideas of hikes that we can do with a little one that has limited stamina. Also, gave us some ideas of things to do other than just hikes, which was handy.

2008-08-26Christi10101010YesThank you. I knew the water level would be at it's lowest so even the normal Class IV would be a low III or even a II. But to get the most out of a "Whitewater" ride is what I was looking for and your suggestion helped alot. Thank you!
2008-07-27Iggy10101010YesJohn, thanks for sharing your knowledge and love of Yellowstone. Thanks for answering my questions and for helping us get more out of our visit.
2008-07-26David10101010YesJohn, the information you provided in your reponses to other people that i've read, as well as the response to the questions I asked, have been invaluable to say the least. I've done a lot of research on YSNP and GTNP and want to make the best of the 2000 mile drive and 2 weeks I'm taking off work. This is a once in a lifetime trip for me and I have you to thank for helping me plan it. You've been able to "net out" the reseach I've done over the past year for this trip. I can't thank you enough. Thank You.

2008-03-21Derek10101010YesHi John, Thanks for your thorough and quick responses! That was great! I have some other questions. When is a better time to go, mid to late may or early june? Do you have any recommendations for the best photo spots (especially sunrise/sunset). Finally, if we stayed in west yellowstone, how far is it from the main attractions in the park? Thanks again. Derek

Expertise

My greatest passion in the natural world is Yellowstone National Park. I have been going there regularly since I was 2 (that was in 1953). I make a minimum of two trips a year there, and have visited in both the summer and winter. My area of real joy is studying and observing the geysers, primarily in the upper geyser basin near Old Faithful. I belong to a group called GOSA (the Geyser Observation and Study Association) which has around 300 members. I have also acquired a passion for park history, much of it`s geology, I marvel every year at the wonderful canyon and experience such peace on the shores of Lake Yellowstone. I do love this park and if I can help make a families time there more fun and a greater learning experience I would love to do that.

Experience

I am a founding member of both the Committee to Preserve Our Yellowstone Heritage, a group committed to preserving habitat and affordable accomodations, and I am a charter member of The Geyser Observation and Study Association (GOSA). This added to my years of study and enjoyment give me a valuable base from which to share what I have learned over the years.
