2009-10-27lynn10101010YesJust what I thought school coach is not the club coach the club coach said what you said..I asked school coach she said no problem good to keep the girls together, might have just been a frustrated parent worrying about a spot for her daughter good luck our girls are 15 too but they did not make it to miami...haha but we know some who did KC Power and Invasion have players on our school team I think they went. Thanks very much for the info
2009-10-22Kim Greenwood10101010YesCoach Houser was straight forward and offered realistic solutions. He offered suggestions I believe helped my daughter keep a positive attitude and that assisted in salvaging a very dissapointing season. She's going on to play at a junior college next year and is thrilled.
2009-10-16sarah10101010Nothanks all good points - I will do my best to reason with a teenager
2009-10-14Mary Beth10101010NoThank you Coach. That answered my question. One more question for ya. When jump serving, does a player have to contact the ball behind the endzone? I think that their jump needs to be behind the endzone and their feet can land in front of the endzone, correct?
2009-10-06sarah10101010NoCoach - Thanks a second time and I will stop bothering you now. :) We are on the west coast - Southern Cal, but I will let the director know about your camps. She is on the middle school team but it is more like rec ball and we are trying to figure out which club to go with this year. The thing I like the most about your web site is all the smiling faces! And I really appreciate your objective opinion on all these volleyball topics. It is helpful to see a coach’s point of view. Keep up the good work.
2009-10-05sarah10101010NoThanks coach. That was very helpful. I want her to enjoy this sport and improve. It is so fun to watch them play. I will give her your advice and let you know how it goes this year and what we end up doing.

2009-09-24Dave10101010YesThank you ever so much for the extremely quick and detailed response. Its people like you that take the extra effort to help others like, even if you are 100 of miles away and get no direct reward other then knowing that you can help. Thank you for not making me feel embarrassed to ask questions. All the best and keep doing what your doing. Gratefully yours Dave
2009-09-23Concerned10101010YesDear Coach Houser, Thank you for your comments. You bascially said what she has known all along. She's proud to be a part of one of the best programs in the state even if it means less playtime. We will continue to support her and let her read your letter as well. It may help her on the days when she feels she's not contributing or needed. We know every player is important to a program and to keep working harder can only help. We also believe parents shouldn't get involved that's it's the resposiblity of the player to speak and work with the coach - this just builds character. But at the same time, it's hard to be a parent sometimes. Thank you again and best wishes this season.

2009-09-16Monica10101010NoThank you so much for your answer. I'm unsure if I can email a video of my serving, but will try. Thanks again for such a fast response!! Monica
2009-09-06laura10101010YesThank you so much for your insight into this. It is great to have a neutral party look at the situation. Now I know I was right to keep my mouth shut.
2009-08-19Kristin10101010NoThanks so much Mr. Houser. This was very helpful given that since I watched them play last year, I pretty much know each kid's ability. It's a 4-2 for now! Not star setters yet and I'm not sure they are ready for back set options :) Not to say we can't get there given how fast they learn. Thanks again! Kristin

Expertise

I can answer any type of volleyball question: school, college, club, coaching, playing, etc. (I am not, however, a athletic trainer! haha)

Can you believe that 25% of the answers that I send to people are never read? It's been really surprising to me. If you're going to take all that time to send me a question, how about taking a few minutes to read it! :) haha I will almost always answer your question within 24 hours.

Then would you please come back and grade my answer!

Experience

23 years coaching varsity, JV, club.

The Picture!
The picture that you see is my team after winning the 52-team Capitol Hill Classic in February 2008 in Washington DC. We were the only undefeated team in the 15's division. However, they presented our awards to the team that won the SILVER division! haha So the tournament directors had to reorder our medals and our player's MVP trophy, then mail them all to us later!
