2009-09-19Vance1010910NoThank You. We decided to rent. I didn't realize I could buy a good used for only $250. We might do that if he likes it. Regards, Vance
2009-09-17Mary Ann1010910NoThank you very much, Colin. From what I've read the King vintage silver horns are the best and I hope to find one I can afford. If you agree, is there anything in particular I should look for? Are some years of manufacture better than others? We bought my daughter a new Yamaha about 6 years ago. It has a rose bell and is the most beautiful sounding horn I have ever heard. We new it was superior after she played about 3 notes. Thanks again. Have a wonderful day.

2009-09-05David7101010NoColin, Thank you for your effort. I just discovered this website and think it is great. You and all the other experts are to be commended. David
2009-08-31Lisa10101010YesThank you Colin. We just purchased the 2 instruments together from the son of Ralph Hutchinson, who was a professional in the 50's and 60's. He played for some time with Jackie Gleason's orchestra in Miami and was also under contract to all 3 network orchestras, back in the day. His son did mention that the Besson was the practice instrument and that he (the son) had used it as his first instrument, so I was surprised (but not shocked) that you think the instrument is so new. The son is in his 50's, but had been estranged from his father for many years before Ralph's death last year. I guess he replaced the old practice instrument.

2009-08-13Tony8101010NoColin - thank you so much for your prompt reply and helpful advice which I shall follow up. I am very tempted to buy this instrument for my own use as I was able to get a reasonable sound out of it despite being a trumpet player. Our amateur orchestra could do with more trombonists! Best wishes, Tony

2009-07-31Brenda10101010NoThanks Colin! I appreciate the info and the excellent suggestion. A music shop would definately be able to find a good new home for a professional instrument and with the proceeds/exchanges, we will be able to keep paying it forward! You rock! Very best regards, Brenda

2009-07-21Gabe10101010YesThank you very much for the information. I checked what you told me to check and it is an 88H and the serial number starts with an N, which means it was made in 1970. Thanks again for your help.

2009-06-18Keith10101010YesThank you Colin. I will attempt to order the CD today. I'm surprised you could recognize the artist from my description. I asked Ian McDougall, a Canadian trombone player who has recorded and has retired to Victoria, but he couldn't help me.
