I agree that this man is twisting Gods word, all evidence seems to point to this direction. I like you am not a scholar of the Greek, however I do not believe that this anymore then a temporary set back in solidifying your and my positions on this passage. The references that you have brought up esp Acts 22:16 I have brough up and to date have not recived a direct answer to satisfy this. This individual has not and cannot defeat my position on the plain meaning of Acts 2:38 when read and understood by the exact wording and context given in the passage. His only card is to reject the english rendering entirely and take the conversation into the realm of Koine Greek. From my past experience with this, those who run have a great need to do so and usually don't get far before they are once again backed into a corner grammatically, historically, theologically. He wants to deal with one passage at a time so we have started with Acts 2:38. He is not the only one who has studied Koine ..... |

I agree with you on that I do believe God wants one women and one man to be married for life. For problems to be worked out in a Godly fashion if at all possible. My ex wife was my first love, we were both virgins when we married. I am taking your words and taking them toward my new study of these scriptures. At this point I am still unsure of what my end result will be. As a side note, I hope in the future I might be able to ask you additional questions in this area as my studies continue. Joe Norman
Expertise
I can answer questions regarding acceptable worship, organization of the church, or any apsect of the Christian life. I am the son of a preacher and have studied the Bible from cover to cover since I was 12 years old. I am strong in my research skills and do not follow teachings of men. Many will label me as conservative and some might label me as liberal, but I just seek to be biblical. I understand proper exegesis and hermeneutics and apply them. My desire is to share my knowledge of God's Word with others. Please always keep in mind that none of us who are listed as experts here are divinely inspired and therefore it is possible to get incorrect answers from any one of us. Study the Scriptures and decide for yourself if what is taught is true.
Experience
I am the 4th generation in my family to be a faithful member of the church of Christ. I was raised by a preacher and have studied the Bible everyday since I was twelve. I am 44 yrs old now. I am not a "scholar", but I am very familiar with the scriptures.
Organizations
member of the church of Christ, served as a Deacon for a few years at LakeShore church of Christ in Waco, Tx. I currently live in the North Dallas area and worship with the Lewisville church of Christ.
