2009-10-21Lori10101010YesThanks so much for your expert advise. You've made the job a little less scary and have confirmed the thoughts I had about assembling the panel. I just needed reassurance from someone with experience that the copper reinforcing re-strip that I have would make the panel strong enough. Thanks for answering so promptly as well!
2009-09-30Linda10101010YesVery presise in the answer and even gave further tips for future projects. A+

2009-05-26Mary10101010NoI was amazed at how fast someone got back to me and appreciated the information as to what to do. Thank you very much. I hope it works!
2009-04-30Carl10101010NoThank you much. I consulted another chemist I know who confirms "oxidation" on the surface which protects the underlying material, usually in the form of a thin coating. Nothing like ferrous oxidation (rust). I would disagree about handling the material occupationally; probably should wear gloves and protect from inhalation of fumes during heating/melting/soldering.
2009-03-09Claudia10101010YesThank you Lyn! Man, your response was fast!!! I'll try the drill with the polishing pad - haven't done that yet. The zinc, copper, and brass bend really well in the came bender - you just have to take several runs at it and not try to go to fast. I spoke to another stained glass artist, and she says she doesn't get excessive scratching from the bender. Maybe it's just the came I'm getting. Or maybe I'm just too picky! In any event, I'll try the drill with polishing compound (by that do you mean Brasso or a copper polish?). Many thanks for your advice, Lyn - it's very much appreciated.
