2009-10-26Chase10101010YesThank you, this gave me a wider understanding of the topic, as I have searched everywhere to answer the question on the gap. thanks again
2009-09-30Rosa10101010YesThank you for your exhaustive and prompt reply. I am very grateful indeed. It's a puzzling insertion by Overy, considering the list was going to receive such wide publicity.

2009-02-06Robin10101010YesThanks for the links, at least it's a place to start. I'm only a layperson when it comes to history, but the similarities between these two different parts of the would during the B.C. and early A.D. truly fascinates me.
2009-01-31Sophie10101010YesThankyou that has helped me so much! Sophie

2008-10-29Alan10101010YesMaria... I could not add a follow-up since you are maxed out so I am putting it here on 'add rating' I do feel you are the greatest. Also when I did not hear from you last night, I asked Dr Thomas Burns, Emory University, USA about this quote. Both of you confirm no surving Rescript is available. Dr Burns states "Honorius's letter, if ever existing, no longer does. It is "refered to" by the late Roman historian, Zosimus, in his "New History...". So I will use "You must look to your own defenses." I don't think with the answers of the two preeminent scholars of the modern age, that anyone will doubt me. By the way if you are maxed out on the Latin site, and I see you get about one question a day, how can I find you again? I don't t want to let you slip out of my grasp so I will give you may e-mail. If you feel like it can I have your email or will you be de-maxed out shortly? Thanks again Al Cagle afcagle@zebra.net

Happily, the asnwer entailed more then I expected. I had no idea that the site was discovered by british soldiers. I thank you very much for taking the time to assist me with my question.

2008-02-23Rich10101010YesDear Maria, Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I really appreciate all the great information that you have shared with me. It was a wonderful experience visiting the "Thermae Antoninianae". We spent the better part of an afternoon going through the ruins, trying our best to mentally reconstruct what lay before us. How amazing! Sincerely, Rich

2008-01-16Rich10101010YesDear Maria, Thank you for your fascinating and wonderful answer to my question about the Aurelian walls. It was very kind of you to give me such a complete explanation. I now understand that the openings I saw next to Porta San Giovanni that are being used for present day vehicular traffic exist because the Romans incorporated a preexisting aqueduct (made of arches) into this section of the wall. Thank you again. Rich
2008-01-13jim10101010YesThank you, Maria, for your promptness and your clarity. You did, in fact, give me useful information as to the difference of substances covering ruins in Pompeii as opposed to Herculaneum. I was aware that the latter city was a more difficult challenge to archeologists than Pompeii. Now I know why. Thanks again. Jim
2008-01-05Caroline10101010YesTHANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!! MY WHOLE LATIN CLASS WAS SOOO IMPRESSED!
