I have purchased several Russian home study programs, and I am always trying to learn as much about the language and culture as I can. I eventually hope to become skilled enough to travel to Russia and only speak the Russian language while there... in part to cement the language into my mind. Your answer really helped me to understand how the non-phonetic aspect works, since this is the only time I have encountered this so far in Russian.
