I will digest this information and more than likely I will have more questions. Based on the "nose to the grindstone" and education being all important in the McIlhargie family, I suspect that my forefathers were less likely to be "reiver" and more likely to be Jacobites. My dad used to think that he was related to Bonnie Prince Charlie. Dad died believing that folklore. The recent websites of McIlhargies say that they heard this claim and cannot find any proof. Maybe the only association is the fact that the family supported Prince Charlie. Again, many thanks!!! Mary |
