2007-03-31Gary10101010YesThanks Chris - some really good ideas. They are city kids so something like Snowden is probably a bit too much, but the others sound distinctly possible. Much appreciated. Gary

2005-06-24Kyle10101010NoHi There, Thanks for the information provided by you, it was very helpful and helped me to plan out better approach and so on. One other thing that I would like to highlight is that though Ladhak as a state is located on an altitude of between 9,000 feet (2750m) at Kargil to 25,170 in Kangri. The route we are planning to take is a well marked and more of a normal trekking route (though because of height and terrain condition comes under ‘Demanding' category of trekking). Maps well you cant get maps in India, but yes of course we would be taking a guide along with us so that we can explore more places and avoid getting lost. Even Stok Kangri though is at 20000 ft its from the info I gathered is more like a steep trekking trail (nothing to do with high end or medium mountaineering) I hope this bit of information should rest your minds that we are not going to take any unnecessary chances. I would not have written this, had it not been for the fact that I was really touched by the concern shown by you (don't worry we wont commit .....

2005-05-23Vinod10101010YesChris, Many thanks for your quick and detailed response. As much as I want to do this challenge I think you have confirmed to me what was buried at the back of my mind, which is, I would be stupid to risk injuring myself further for the sake of 1 day. Thanks again and maybe I'll see if I can join them as a support driver instead. Regards Mark
2005-05-03Mark Northeast9101010Nothanks, that's really helpful...especially the ground sheet comment and the bit about the park guides.

Expertise

I can answer most questions on equipment for outdoor activities such as walking, mountain biking, rock climbing and paragliding, in the UK. I`ve limited watersports experience so you`d be better off asking someone else these questions. Questions about the above activities themselves as well as about the equipment will also be answered as I`ve got several contacts who can pass on information. I`m a keen walker/mountainbiker/rock climber/paraglider pilot in the UK. I`ve been doing outdoor sports for about 15 years including trips to the French Alps and Trekking in the Nepalese and the Indian Himalayas. I`ve been buying and making outdoor clothing and equipment for about the same amount of time.

Experience

Waking up at the foot of Annapurna South is something I won't forget. I would say that my first paraglider flight was unforgettable but every flight since seems to have been more unforgettable.
