2004-10-13Ted1081010NoThanks for clearing up a question of which I'd suspected that I'd already had the answer but alas, had no proof. I must add something. During a recent discussion on this subject, I told the group that I supported the death penalty wholeheartedly. An elderly woman grinned at me and said "If I told you that 108 people have been removed from death row due to DNA testing, would that change your mind?" I told her "No, not at all." I'll avoid the specifics of the whole discussion, but I did ask her what her opinion of parole was, and she responded "I don't know, I never thought about it." I voiced my surprise at this and added, "You like to throw that number of 108 around quite a bit, but do you have any idea how many innocents have been murdered, brutalized, or carjacked by parolees that never should've been let out?--I'll bet you my next two paychecks that it's more than 108!" I had no takers...imagine that. Anyway thanks for the info.
