2009-11-21Dave Gibson10101010YesHelen: Thanks for the response. We will watch her closely for the next few days and are contacting the breeder to find out if this is her first heat or how long since the last one. The other female did not display this type of behavior, but became lathargic and irritable. Thanks again Dave Gibson

2009-11-20San10101010YesThank you! Very well put and very rational!! I did know they were susceptible to uclers and I don't know why I wasn't thinking, knowing how aspirin can be. I have been giving her extra attention and lots of belly rubs. Yes, she is complaining about the misery of the cycle. We don't mind the noise, it just breaks our heart to see her in pain. Thanks for the timely response.

2009-10-07Falicia10101010YesThank you very much! I went out there today and checked things out and where I thought it was just cement that eventually broke into gravel haphazardly, after clearing away moss and weeds, found there is a straight square where I should be able to build a front fence, perhaps just a white picket one or something of that sort. I will just use the same materials to build one around the hut and to make a safe edge to the side deck. You're answers really helped. I will come back for more questions later. Coyotes and such had come to mind, but there have been various pets that have been fine. This probably is due to the neighbor, George, being a bit of a gunsman and shooting in his backyard (which isn't towards my backyard, thank goodness!) all day - most likely makes them stay away. The only issue we've had is hawks, which I will not leave the baby piglet out there by itself until it's big enough not to be carried away.
2009-10-07Beth Stephen10101010YesThanks so much your response was very helpful. I contacted the previous owners and they said she always does this when she is in heat. I am pretty sure I will get her spayed right away, then it will be easier to stop this behaviour. It seems she is directing all her "attention" toward me so hopefully I will be able to remedy this.

2009-09-28Michelle10101010YesDear Helen Thank you so very much for your kind words, they made me cry, but eased my consience!I saw her siblings today and they are 3 times her size, so she difinately had some growth issues. Anyhow, she arrived under special circumstances, lived as such, and I'll wait for a special pig under special circumstances to grace me with her company in the future! Best wishes, Michelle.
2009-09-26Jembe10101010YesThanks, I think he's just a bit restless, I'm going to let him out for two days.
