2009-11-13James10101010YesThankyou very much! We have been trying it and sometimes putting a bit of her poo in the box after we have cleaned up after her. It doesnt smell (I sleep in that room so try to keep it smell free). The idea about the small box in the carrier is very nice too though I have the feeling my girlfriend would be very upset having the baby cry all the time. We have also been moving the box into her favorite spots to go depending on the room. Given that she is still just a kitten I have high hopes that some of these tips will help! The older cat has always used her box. Once again thankyou very much!
2009-11-13Jennifer10101010YesThank you for your help! I've noticed a huge difference with them, its just having the patience to wait it out.
2009-11-11Sara10101010YesYou nailed it! We are on the way to recovery. Thank you so very much for putting all of this in perspective and allowing me to make the improvements to cure this problem. You knew exactly what was wrong from symptoms and we got help right alway. Thank you, thank you, thank you! S. King in SC

2009-11-08Sara10101010YesThat's interesting.... I had almost started to think is might be a pest problem and was going to get an expert over to treat the house anyway. What makes this a puzzle is that these cats have never been outdoors. I hear what you are saying about other ways for them to come into the house and feel you may have touched on a problem. I will follow up on this and hope it will get them down off of the table. Thanks for your response and I'll let you know how it goes. S. King
2009-10-30sarah10101010YesThe answer I received was very reassuring and I have confidence in the knowldege of Dear Tabbi. Reading some of his/her other responses on the site was what originally prompted me to email. I'd definitely do this again if I have any further problems, especially with regard to relations with my male cat. Many thanks for a swift and confidently knowldegeable rsponse.
2009-10-30michelle10101010Nothank you!
2009-10-28Zach10101010YesTabbi was extremely helpful, and asnwered all aspects of my question. thankyou very much.
2009-10-25Carolyn10101010NoI would like to say thank you to Tabbi for helping me out. I am a feline foster parent and although I have already applied myself to what was suggested, it was nice to see that this is advice that is given to help out others in need. I appreciate all the time and thoughtfulness to my predicament, and hope that some one else can benefit from the answer that I received.
2009-10-25Davina10101010YesTabbi is amazing! She was very concise, friendly & above all so very helpful. She gave me many ideas that I wouldn't have otherwise known about & I now finally know what I can do in order for my cat to possibly have a better life which she so very much deserves after her past of abuse. To Tabbi-I can't thank you enough-you are amazing...I so very much appreciate your help & advice. Thanks to you my cat will now most probably live a happier & therefore healthier life-no one else seemed to know what I could do about my cats nervousness which is so very debilitating for her so I am more greatful then I can even say. Thanks again Tabbi-your great, Davina... :0)

2009-10-19Debbie10101010YesYou did good. I had no idea there were so many web sites out there all about OLD cats. I never had one that lived past 13 before, so this is nice to know. Thanks. I used to volunteer here as an Expert on Egypt (we all live in Cairo Egypt) but had to resign. Thank you for your help. Debbie
2009-10-16Jill10101010YesThanks for your help. I have had kittens now for almost 2 years straight and just couldn't get a handle on this behavior. Your timeliness was greatly appreciated. I plan to try the nightlight first. I really want him to feel comfortable enough to go to humans and at night is his only attempt to be next to me.
2009-10-13Monica10101010NoThanks. I had actually tried the newspaper and puppy pads before I got your reply and they proved a good stopgap solution. We figured out it really was the type of litter. After holding it in all day he would rather pee on the tile floor than in the litter. While looking for new litter we found Cat Attract and it did the trick in no time. In fact our other cat started avoiding the old litter (World's Best) in favour of the new one, so we changed both boxes. They were both alone for 36 hours this weekend and no problems at all with using the litter.
2009-10-05Taylor10101010NoThanks Tabbi! I hope he does grow out of it. He actually has another kitten that's pretty close to the same age that he wrestles with and he nibbles on her ears too. The blowing in his face seems to confuse him but definitely discourages him. Thanks for the help!

2009-10-02Chris10101010YesI liked the knowladge she had on the sistuation and a few possible solutions, I am so gald she has the knowledge not only on outdoor cats both strays and feral cats as well and their habitats and habitats they have and use being out door strays and ferals, she had , she pointed out alot of things I didnt really think about which will help me in this sistuation I also like that she checked with other people to get their views on the sistuation as well to offer other ideas and solutions, and information . Just a wealth of help I have recieved and it will help the lives of the cats I am trying to save as well. So I have to give Tabbi and A+ and her other contacts an A+ as well. My sistuation is not an easy one but I will try to use the information to benifits the cats. If I have any more questions or situations I will ask again, Thank You
2009-10-02Becky10101010YesI would love to thank you for the response that I received! Sphinx did stop splashing water out of the dish. Your knowledge was extremely helpful and I have noticed other things that he does in order to deal with his needs. Mr. Sphinx would like to thank you too for the bonding and understanding that we have of one another! Your answers are straight and to the point! You have the very insight that I think that every pet owner should question about their pets action and if I ever have another question, I guarentee I will refer anyone with questions about their pets to you! Again, THANK YOU! Becky

2009-09-30Jenna10101010YesVery helpful answer, and knows what she is talking about. Thank you a lot, I will try everything. Thanks again!
2009-09-29michele10101010NoThank you for your help. She does have an older cat she wrestles and plays with, but I think the marbles-in-a-box idea is great. Thanks again and take care. Michele
2009-09-28Carrie10101010NoAwesome Advice & Responded so quickly!! I'm happy that there are people out there that actually care, and don't pass it off as being "not their problem". People who think like that are the reason animal overpopulation has gotten to be what it is in the first place! And YES, she did just drop them off in my yard, even though I made a point with her upon taking them that she should feel comfortable about contacting me for any problems or advice or anything! She had my email and number!! And I have her # as well, but wouldn't get any satisfaction from talking to her ...how irresponsible and cowardly of this adult woman!

Dear Tabbi

Expertise

My expertise is in helping people understand their cat (or cats) and their behavior. Questions are welcome even if you don't have a cat....just a question about them. Hopefully my experience, suggestions, and comments will be of help to you...and your cat (or cats). Looking through my past responses to questions will give you additional information and/or answers too. Domestic Cats = cats (no matter what breed) who are tame or not wild, or abandoned cats who were pets that became wild, but can be tamed again. Ferals = cats who are born with one or more parents who were wild stray cats. They usually have had no interactions with people. They have an inbred distrust of humans and are difficult to socialize. They are skittish, hide, and are afraid of people. They take a lot of time and patience to work with them. A lot of kittens from shelters had a feral parent.

Experience

Since I was a child, over 45 years, I have been owned by a LOT of cats and kittens of almost every temperament, behavior, and personality. I have had experience with neurotic, disabled (including blind), stray, and 'problem child' cats and kittens. (A few normal cats too!) Plus all the things a lifetime of owning cats and research has taught me. I also have experience in feral cat behavior (which is different from domestic cats), and some experience with feral colonies that includes colony feeding and feral cat TNR (trap/neuter/release).
