After reviewing Minnesota's 7/2009 passing law, which allows a driver to go up to 10mph over the speed limit in order to pass another car, I will try and assist California with enacting a similar code to end this conundrum since I do not believe that passing another car should be equated as speeding for a much longer stretch of highway. |

I hope to show that the officer may have confused me with the car he had actually put in his crosshairs. I asked a police officer today about the situation and he and his partner stated to me that they must have information regarding Make and model as well as plate number complete and accurate on the ticket. Color of car and time of incident are not so much a factor, but make and model are. They said the officer has to show that he ticketed the correct vehicle and the only way to do that was to accurately record the make, model and plate. Again, thank you. |

Experience
I have recently retired as a Deputy Sheriff from California. I have served in Patrol and special Investigations.
My last position for 10 years was assigned to our Regional Training Center at the Sheriff's/Police Academy. I taught at the Academy and administrated the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC). I also was a subject matter expert and served as a member of CalPOST.
My specific training and expertise resides in vehicle operations, vehicle safety, code-3,pursuit, and counter-terrorism operations.
