2009-10-07Rachel10101010NoThanks for your help. I know I had alot of questions but I just want what is best for my dog and many people either give false information or think that if they have not heard of a food its no good. Thanks again. I hope the food continues to work well.
2009-10-05Tish10101010YesThank you. After I submitted the question I read some of the previous questions and responses and viewed your website. Clearly, this is much more complex than I had thought and there is much to learn.

2009-09-13Rachel10101010NoThanks very much for your help and detailed answer. It is nice to have someone answer the questions I have without the purpose of getting money from me. I will feed the bags of solid gold I have and see how they do, I know it takes several weeks to know how the food affects them. If they do not do as well I will try the natural balance or re-contact you to see what you advice. I will try the moderate addition of protein too, I will keep all of your suggestions in mind and not over do it. Thanks again
2009-09-12Karrie10101010YesThank you so much for your help! It is so hard to find people who really know what they are talking about when it comes to dog food. Find plenty of people that think they know what they are talking about tho lol. Buddy is the baby of the family and we love him very much! I want him to be happy and healthy. I'll have to tell my mother about you and this site, maybe you can help her with her baby Yorkie. :)

2009-08-06Deborah10101010NoThank you so much for your response. We have been cooking everything for him. Yesterday I cooked one of the big knuckle bones from the butcher and he loved it. Had a hard time holding on to it though, now that he only has one front paw.

2009-05-09evonee1010510YesThank you so much for your time:-). But you were right it was a very serious condition....He died that morning at around 9am. on our way to the vet:( . He was very sick though...i was researching all night and found a disease related to heartworms that manifests itself by a sudden stroke its called caval disease where the heartworms accumulate in hte right ventricle preventing the blood to get reoxygenated. It usually results in the dog dieing within one or two days. My little yorkie woke up again at 5 am and threw up everything it could and became extremely tired it couldnt even support his own body weight as he threw up. Thank you so much i still have two other dogs with heart worms and i hope the information you provided me wil help them. (i guess their heartworms havent progressed as much as sisco->my other dog) but my other yorkie has actualy qualified for the treatment but has become very lathargic and is refusing food AND water. my mom says they are just recovering from the treatment....but it reminds me of my sisco:( thank you ill try the cooked salmon and liver. thankflly my .....

2009-04-20Kim106910NoI understand what you are sayingm is there anyway that I can contact you without going through a vet clinic? I didn't find your answer as informative as I thought it would be. Everything I have raad tells me that she does require patassium but I have been in contact with two clinics and they both tell me she is fine just on her diet.
2009-04-17Lacey810610NoThank you very much Catherine! I will let her know and recommend her to take her dog for the tests. The information you provided makes sense! Thank you again! :)

Expertise

I offer qualified and comprehensive expertise, based on both extensive experience as a professional canine nutrition consultant to local veterinary clinics, breeders, natural food stores and individual dog lovers, as well as formal training (I currently hold a diploma in canine nutrition and am pursuing a Master's degree at this time). My background in dogs spans fifty years and my approach to nutrition emphasizes a reasonable balance between cutting-edge, holistic science, and conventional research and wisdom. I'm happy to discuss anything related to canine nutrition, including commercial diet, formulating a home prepared raw or cooked diet, diet for health conditions and life stages, pros and cons of raw feeding, performance nutrition, behaviour, supplementation, using herbs safely/ effectively, nutrient requirements, food sources and safety. Please check my website www.thepossiblecanine.com for a full biography and much more information on my training, experience, and results.

Experience

I've worked with dogs in various capacities since the 1970's, when I was a veterinary assistant for my father's practise and involved in conformation with various breeds. Since then I have studied nutrition informally and formally with an emphasis on canine studies.I have been working as a canine nutrition consultant for eight years professionally; I take referrals from several local veterinary clinics, working mainly with health conditions such as IBD, cancer, kidney disease and uroliths. I also present seminars, have guested on a local radio show, appeared on local television, and I teach certificate programmes in nutrition, dietary formulation and herbalism.
