Great that you included an example of Tom Chapin's song, plus a reference book, your explanation is very clear and makes me want to try my hand (and ear) at crafting a round ! Thank you also for such a speedy response. I am glad I found this site and I will definitely check out your book!

2009-06-12Judy10101010YesThankyou so much for the timely response to my question. I appreciate your expertise in music theory and that you overlooked my typo error in the question I submitted. The information you gave me will make the difference when I play the correct pennywhistle this weekend! Thank you again. Judy R.
2009-03-30Kelly10101010YesThanks! This was exactly what I wanted!
2009-03-26Brandon10101010Nothanks for the feedback...I've been fighting with myself over my demographic lately since I wrote a much more simple phase song recently that people seem to enjoy. I did a great job focusing on stresses and sounds of words, and it is much more concrete than this example (I have hundreds written)...It just feels too easy for me, everybody loves the song, however I really hate it and can't stand its simplicity.
2009-03-14rick10101010YesWow! My hat's off to you, Bill. Thank you so much for your extremely fast, knowledgeable, comprehensive and educational answers to my questions. Not only did you break it down and give clear answers to each question, but you pointed me in some further directions to check out for myself. Thanks for sharing your hard-earned knowledge with those who are independently trying to find their way through the maze. You rock, Bill!
2009-03-06John10101010YesWow! Thank you for the super fast (less than 30 minutes) response to my question. I really appreciate it.
2009-02-03Ash10101010YesGosh Bill, Thank you for that very enlightening response. I've never before thought/realised the 3 halfstep motiff before. You are absolutely right! Pink Floyd does indeed use it in quite a lot of their songs (esp. my favourite ones). I guess I will now be looking at the structure in a completely new way. Thanks a million! Once I re-look at the songs I hope you wouldn't mind me asking any further queries that arise. Regards ASH
2009-01-25Lisa10101010Yesthank you. that was really helpful.
2009-01-21Matt10101010YesThank God for Mr. Bill Pere. He has been more than helpful, and an absolute blessing in the music business. I can't even explain how absolutely helpful he has been, and so I'll let my ratings do the majority of the talking for me, but he is the first 'expert' I've ever met who has the actual expertise needed WITHOUT any arrogance or superiority heard in his answers. Thank you again for Mr. Bill Pere.
2009-01-14Matt1091010YesBeautifully detailed answer, and it covered all that I asked for. Thank you very much, Mr. Pere.
